Gateway to the world - The port of Hamburg

Giants on Site - A Special Experience!

The Port of Hamburg is the largest seaport in Germany and the third largest in Europe after Rotterdam and Antwerp. It is a good 800 years old and its birthday is celebrated every year in May with a party lasting several days.

From the landing stages you have a wonderful view over the entire port. The best and most intensive way to experience the Port of Hamburg is, of course, a harbour tour by boat. If you buy our city tour tickets, you can also buy tickets for the harbor tour by boat at an extremely reduced price.

Our Tips Around the Port

Your journey will take you along the entire northern edge of the port, so that you can fully enjoy its panorama. If you want to stroll along the harbor promenade, you can get off at stop No. 11  (Hafentreppe) and walk along the Elbe to the Landungsbrücken (landing stages), or stop No. 12 (Landungsbrücken) and continue your journey there after visiting the port.

The legendary Hamburger Hafengeburtstag (Port Anniversary) usually takes place in May. In 2023 it is from 5 to 7 May. This event is the folk festival of superlatives in the north -  similar to the Oktoberfest in the south.
